Frequently Asked Questions

  • What makes Life View Prenatal Imagery, LLC different from other non-diagnostic, pre-natal ultrasound providers?

Life View Prenatal Imagery, LLC is the only 3D ultrasound, 4D ultrasound and HD Live ultrasound provider in Myrtle Beach.  And, unlike some ultrasound centers, all of our ultrasounds are performed by an experienced and certified diagnostic medical sonographer. Our sonographers are all certified and ARDMS eligible.

Our large ultrasound room with multiple screens was designed to give mom privacy, if desired, but still allows for plenty of interaction with family and friends.

  • Are 3D ultrasounds, 4D ultrasounds and HD Live ultrasounds safe?

Ultrasound is a painless procedure that uses soundwaves to create pictures. More than three decades of studies have confirmed that ultrasound is safe for both mom and baby.  All ultrasounds should be performed by a certified sonographer. According to the March of Dimes and the FDA, “the greatest danger to a pregnant woman and her unborn child is not actually the machine, but an unskilled operator who may make an incorrect diagnosis”.  The knowledge and skills one achieves upon attending an accredited ultrasound program is necessary to assure that all preventative measures are taken to carry out an ultrasound examination with minimal exposure. Life View Prenatal Imagery, LLC has trained sonographers who fallow FDA guidelines and principals for length of scan and frequency of ultrasound waves to be as low as reasonably achieved. We encourage you to discuss any questions or concerns you have with your doctor prior to your appointment, as we want you to feel completely comfortable with your choice to have this elective ultrasound performed. • Are non-diagnostic 3D ultrasounds, 4D ultrasounds and HD Live ultrasounds different from the ultrasounds I get at my doctor’s office?

While the technology is the same, the experience you have at our office is very different. What makes this experience so much different?

    • Early gender determination starting at 15 weeks as opposed to 20+ weeks at your doctor’s office
    • At Life View Prenatal Imagery, LLC, you have the option to bring as many family and friends as you would like. You may be able to bring a spouse to the doctor but generally their space is fairly limited. We have ample space to accommodate family and friends along with a children’s play area
    • Convenient evening and weekend appointments. No need to take off of work for a middle of the day appointment. We will work around what’s best for you.
    • No rush. Doctor’s offices tend to schedule their ultrasounds 15 minutes apart, leaving very little time for you to get to spend with your baby. We allot up to twice the amount of time to spend seeing all the parts of the baby you want to see.
    • Heartbeat Buddies! Record your baby’s heartbeat on a light up heart to be placed inside of a Heartbeat buddy for family and siblings to enjoy.
  • Do I need to make an appointment and how long will my appointment take?

Yes, you do need to make an appointment so we can book ample time to capture detailed images. The average appointment is 30 minutes.  It could be longer or shorter depending on the position of your baby.

  • May I bring my family and friends?

Of course!  We have plenty of seating for family in our ultrasound room.  We also encourage you to bring your children to see their baby brother or sister in mommy’s belly.

  • What if you are unable to capture images?

The quality of 3D ultrasound, 4D ultrasound and HD Live ultrasound images is dependent on factors such as position, amniotic fluid, etc.  We make every effort to capture Instagram-worthy pictures of your baby. If circumstances prevent us from being able to do so, you may schedule a re-do appointment for an additional $25 charge. Re-do sessions must be booked before you leave and scheduled within two weeks of your original appointment.

  • How should I prepare for my appointment?

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!  Hydration is a key factor in capturing detailed 3D ultrasound, 4D ultrasound and HD Live ultrasound images. We encourage you to drink plenty of water beginning one week prior to appointment and on the day of your appointment. Why? The more you are hydrated the more amniotic fluid you will have which gives us a better window to see your baby. We also ask that you eat a small snack or drink some juice an hour prior to your appointment to help get your baby moving. A full bladder is preferred if you are coming for an early gender determination.

  • What is the difference between 2D ultrasound, 3D/4D ultrasound and HD Live ultrasound?

  • Do I need a note from my doctor?

No, but you will need to give us your medical providers information. If we see anything abnormal, we will contact your provider.

  • Should I still get an ultrasound at my doctor’s office?

Life View Prenatal Imagery, LLC performs elective, non-diagnostic 3D ultrasounds, 4D ultrasounds and HD Live ultrasounds.  You will still need to have routine ultrasounds performed at your doctor’s office for medical purposes.

  • Will I know if I am having a boy or a girl?

We can often determine if you are having a boy or a girl.  If we are able to determine the gender and you would like to know, we are happy tell you!  If gender cannot be determined during your session you will be invited back at no additional charge. Recheck appointment must be made the day of first session.

  • Is 3D ultrasound, 4D ultrasound or HD Live ultrasound covered by my insurance?

The ultrasounds we perform in our Myrtle Beach office are elective.  Therefore, most insurance plans do not cover these services.  We understand our clients will be paying out-of-pocket which is why our ultrasound services are affordably priced.

  • Are there other facilities that perform non-diagnostic 3D ultrasounds, 4D ultrasounds and HD Live Ultrasounds in Myrtle Beach?

No. Life View Prenatal Imagery, LLC is the only facility offering non-diagnostic 3D ultrasounds, 4D ultrasounds and HD Live Ultrasounds in Myrtle Beach.
